Sega Saturn

My 64pin US Model 2 Saturn audio is hissing and it wont play any discs. The menu screen just pops up and thats it. It aint the a/v cables either cause I have 3 saturns/cables to run through.

maybe the TV? small possability but the inputs on the TV/reciever could be shot. I don't know much about this but that's my 2cp.

Have you had the Saturn open at any time?

If so, double check that all the connections between the main board and the CD board are all plugged in OK.

Check that the connections are clean as sometime dust and durt builds up.

Yes it was and everything is connected. Could it be the 21 pin ribbon is damaged?

Try to replace the battery in the movie card compartment with a new one and if you have a movie card inserted take it off also, sometimes the battery leaks due to aging and movie cards sometimes gives out some current impulses that makes some circuits shorted keep us posted if that helped 😀

I use action replay 4-1 plus. The ribbon is pretty kinked up though when I got it. I did try to mod the 64 pin bastard, and yes it didn't take. There was no smoking and other weird shit. Removed the chip and solder with a copper braid. It powers up and screen comes on but the audio is a bit hissy. It won't read discs and I adjusted the laser lens a few times with no luck.

Did you solder the wire to the 64 pin IC?

If so, it could be that you removed too much solder.
