No, actualy, it could hinder performance. What you're doing is placing something in the way of your intake, potentialy slowing the time it takes for the air to get into the intake. Imagine having a lot of dirt blocking your air filter, same idea. Their claim of it reducing carbon build-up is partialy true, as some carbon would build up on this part instead of inside the engine. However, most carbon buildup is in the exhaust, AFTER the fuel has burned in the cylinders.
