SSF the Saturn emulator for the PC has been updated! 0.07 Prototype R10

I have no idea what is new though since I do not read Japanese. If someone here can translate that would be grand.

unfortunatly, they have forbidden the access from altavista and systran to the SSF pages.

I use to translate a Japanesse online translator (if you want you can use it: http://www.excite.co.jp/world/english/web/...p=JAEN&wb_dis=2 )

The web text:

The newest version of SSF Ver0.07 prototype R10 .

R10 is raised for the time being.

SSF Ver0.07 prototype R10

The drawing routine of VDP1 was changed sharply. It is somewhat quick.

Gouraud shading is also corrected.

a bug with fine others -- it is the grade which carried out 取り

Now, although it is the 64-bit version written also to the bulletin board for a while, he has already bought CPU.

However, since it is the situation that the mother board is not put on the market, would development become previously still more?

Thinking whether it will make also from an assembler in the meantime たり.

し [ the 64 bit correspondence version NASM is not found and the grammar of the assembler of GCC is KUSO ].

Although there was YASM, error 出る is carried out by assembling [ of the present sauce ]. --

Although a hand also converts NASM, なら作ってみたいって's is real intention at any rate.

If C / C++ compiler of Intel correspond to 64 bits as for the back --

Since interest leans to development of the 64-bit version

There may be no rise of the present version for the time being.

Development environment

Mainboard GA-8IK1100

CPU Pentium4 3.0GHz

Memory PC3200 512*2

Video RADEON9800Pro

Sound YMF744B

CD drive DW-U12A

OS WindowsXP Professional SP1

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The minimum environment required for execution of SSF Ver0.07

OS Windows98/Me/2000/XP

CPU CPU in which FPU, MMX, SSE, and TSC are carried

It corresponds also to SSE2.

Memory 256MB or more

Video The card corresponding to DirectX8 (driver)

The texture of 1024x512 or 1024x1024 creates.

CD drive 4X or more, the drive corresponding to MMC3

In 2000 and XP, IO control can also be used.

Others BIOS, an ASPI layer

Emu rate situation

SH2 emulator 100%

68000 emulator 50%

CD block 50%

SCSP block 0%

SCU block 90%

SMPC block 100%

VDP1 block 95%

VDP2 block 10%

On a concrete target

SH2 A portion required of a game is mounted mostly altogether.

68000 Only each command is mounted.

a bug -- a あり

VDP1 All are mounted mostly.

a texture sampling -- a bug -- a あり

VDP2 Only a back screen, a shadow, and color offset are mounted.

SCU All are mounted mostly.

a part of DSP command -- un-mounting and DSP -- a bug -- a あり

SMPC It mounts except a built-in clock.

As for an input, only a digital pad corresponds.

SCSP Un-mounting.

CD Block All are mounted mostly.

some CDC commands -- un-mounting and a bug -- a あり

The portion added and changed by Ver0.07

- Change a backup RAM file name.

- It enabled it to set up a BIOS file as an option.

- Correspond to DirectInput.

A pad and a keyboard can be used. Re-assignment of a button is possible.

Default

UP = UP Arrow

DOWN = DOWN Arrow

LEFT = LEFT Arrow

RIGHT = RIGHT Arrow

A TRG = Z

B TRG = X

C TRG = C

X TRG = S

Y TRG = D

Z TRG = F

L TRG = A

R TRG = G

START = Enter

- Add IO control.

In Windows2000 and XP, IO control can also be used.

The used command was simultaneously changed into MMC3.

If it is the drive corresponding to MMC3, I think that all are recognized mostly.

In AthlonXP, it is later than Ver0.06. It is thought that a cause is probably SSE.

Since it is the talk that SSE carried in AthlonXP is quite late --

In Pentium4, it is quick conversely (even if few, it is in development environment).

The question which often exists

- Is it FPU って?

- Is it MMX って?

- Is it SSE って?

- Is it SSE2 って?

-> Let's study a few about the x86 system CPU.

- Is it TSC って?

-> The abbreviated name of a time stump counter. It is carried if it is a processor after Pentium.

TSC should have appeared in CPU of Intel where SSF operates, and AMD, and you may seldom care.

- It is displayed as ". which failed in reading of WNASPI32.DLL."

-> It is because the ASPI layer is not installed.

An Adaptec ASPI layer http://www.adaptec.co.jp/support/download/...pi_package.html It is alike.

In Windows2000 and XP, I/O control can be used. If it is I/O control, it moves also by SCSI drive.

- It is displayed as ". with CD drive which can be used."

-> It is the phenomenon which an ASPI layer authentic positive in Adaptec is sufficient as, and is generated.

It may recognize, if it is the make of the other company, or the ASPI layer of lighting soft attachment.

- A screen (background) is not displayed.

-> Since VDP2 (BG side) is not mounted, it is not displayed yet.

Ver0.06 なら (speed is slow) -- the screen is mostly reproducible

However, a pad cannot be used.

It seems that it will move well if compatible mode is set as 98/Me with the property of SSF.exe.

- A sound is not reproduced.

-> Since SCSP is not mounted, it is not reproduced yet.

Only CDDA is provisional and corresponds.

- It is late.

-> Since [ complicated ] it is hard, SS cannot carry out an emu rate simply like PS.

About especially a screen, it is unreproducible by Direct3D.

Can the twisted quadrangle polygon draw easily by the present graphics card?

By hard drawing, there is much unreproducible specification besides it.

other SS emulators are using Direct3D -- although he wants to see

If you may not reappear, a clear-cut solution will be given to the neighborhood.

It is a policy objective that SSF carries out full reappearance of Hurd called Saturn on PC.

It is not thinking of enabling it to play on high resolution and a beautiful screen from the system at all.

Even if late, a screen will be generated by the software rendering.

It is made for appearance to become for it to be infinite and the same with the system.

I can read Japanese, and it says that you can now play either saturn discs or image files at full speed with even a few graphics enhancements on a Pentium Pro 266MHZ or higher with at least 4 megs of video ram. Thats what it says. I actually got it to run Three Dirty Dwarves on my 133 runing win 3.11. Had to turn the graphic enhancements off to get a steady 30fps though. I'll keep you guys informed.
