Adding files to an ISO

Hey friends again and thanks for your help.

My new problem is I want to add some new files to try some in the Daytona USA ISO file, but when I add the files and select the image in the emulator it says its an invalide cd image or putting in Saturn system. HOw should I do it?

In a beginning Ive just changed some background and textures to see how it works and. We some friends are going to try to do a mod or something like that for this game or likely. What I want to do is once I've changed the files how can include this files again in the ISO avoiding the emulator gives me errors?

Thanks in advance.

What method did you use to change the disc image? Patch the file directly, extract and rebuild, something else?

Modifying a file and patching the image should work for the most part, but if the image is in any other format than mode1/2048 you must remember to regenerate the ECC data. Doing any more extensive modifications is more difficult, as games can use direct sector addressing instead of going through the filesystem.

I suspect that either of these apps saves the .iso images as Mode1/2048, at least by default. Save as raw data (Mode1/2352) as antime suggested. If the programs won't let you do that, both CDmage and ISObuster will do a conversion to raw mode (by generating the ECC data) very easily.

I wasn't suggesting that. In fact, if you can, avoid doing so.

I don't know how those programs in particular work and you're not really giving us any details, but at a guess you're destroying the IP. Read the disc format standards manual to see what's required of a Saturn disc.

WOW! Good one - I completely forgot about the boot sectors. AFAIK all you do is save the first 16 sectors from the original ISO to a file... and copy the file back to the first 16 sectors of the new ISO, replacing them. That should do the trick!

And yeah, antime - I misunderstood what you said about ECC data. Oops. 🙂
