DC pad mod

I did this without following any guide or anything so I wans´t sure if it would work but it did, I noticed that the cable coming out in the original way (from the back of the pad) was causing a lot of stress to it so I changed that:

Whoa, cool. Is that a Euro pad or something? I wish I had one with the analog stick like that.

Cool, good idea.

I noticed that after continuously snapping the cord into place in that groove on the backside, there's been lots of wear and stress on the cable.

I just want to know if you can snap a jump pack in there still without obstructing the cable.

What about that blue analof stick, is that a rubber grip? 🙂

Yeah and what's up with the blue swirl? Is that a Europe thing because in the US it's red. But now that I think about it, blue on a white controller does seem more fitting to sega.

Yup, blue all the way. Even the bios screen 😎

Yes it was blue in Europe because some company there had a trademark on a red swirl. So they had to change it to blue.

I like the blue swirl better. 🙂

The orange LED doesn't really go with it, but it is easily changed.

So do the sticks come like that over there too, or is that added on? My thumb is always slipping off the top of my DC sticks.

Yeap its a rubber grip I took it off from my Mad Catz pad it landed on the floor and the analog stick broke so I recicled the rubber grip, and yes theres space for an extra vmu or jump pack.

I also wanted to change the orange LED to a blue one to match the blue swirl :cheers but I never had the guts to do the change

Yes, I screwed up my first DC with a bad soldering job when I tried to replace the LED on the controller board. I ripped of a bunch of leads by accident, and the controller board is toast. It was my fault, I was impatient, and was using a large, primitive soldering gun, didn't heat up the metal enough, etc. Don't change the LED unless you're confident and have the right tools, it may seem easy, but it's really not.

Heres a pic showing how I did the cable modification the "1" and "2" were where I made the cuts to the multi colored cables after I made the hole and the big cable was inserted they were later resolded and isolated, the rest is self explanatory, good luck!

Thanks for the tip on the LED ratfish I´ll skip it untill I have a secong DC for messing around with and a good soldering iron mine has the tip all wasted.

First part right, second part wrong IMHO.

You do need to know what you are doing, but it is pretty easy.
