Ok i got the player today , I hooked it up to my laptop on turned on hyper-terminal , but the player wants to hear a dial tone before it attempts to dial out , anybody know how to make a computer emulate the dial tone sound ?
You could try to figure out a way to play a dial-tone sample to the player (possibly by setting up a three-way connection). There is hardware that can do this (line emulators etc.) but they can cost quite a bit.
Also, if it wants a modem connection you have to set up your computer's modem to answer without a ring signal, like shown in the guide on how to connect a Dreamcast to a PC.
I meant a three-way connection done with extension cords, not a three-way call. The PC-DC page was located at http://www.consolevision.com/mterlouw/ but the site seems to be undergoing some redesign and I don't know if or when it'll be back. An older version can be found here, but it covers Win98 only.
