I think recent versions of LD should be able to do the conversion on-the-fly when linking. As I recall, that sort of thing was a major reason behind the development of BFD.

VBT, about your SMS emu, you said it was difficult to find speed. I remember your emu being in a very good condition, especially concerning speed. It is very close to being playable, the left thing is compatibility. I tried out a lot of roms with it(long time ago) and only few worked(example:sonic freezes after some jumping around).

For more speed you should have a look at the z80 core discussion at dcemu uk. I'm speaking of a SH4 Z80 core from Ishmairs ZX Spectrum emu and the new CZ80 from Stef. He says he will need two more weeks to finish. It's very small(good for Saturns small cache) and 1.6 times faster.

BTW: all your links are dead, all sources and binaries of your SMSemu are not accessable by others.

Hm, I've PMed the link again, maybe you missed some of my PMs?

I will try to use this core, I managed to use MZ80 so there is no reason for me to fail to use this one :) This time I may start to replace the z80 core on a PC emu :) (I have started anyway on Saturn)

That are some really good news! :D

Sounds like using the MZ80 wasn't that easy...

Thanks for the downloads, vbt.

How are some genesis games playable on Saturn now? IE phantasy star collection and Sonic Jam...

Im guessing its not an emulator but somehow the game data itself is somehow changed to run on the Saturn?

Are you guys utilizing both of the Sh-2s in the saturn for these emus or have you only managed to get 1 working so far?

Sorry, im not really knowlegeable on coding for saturn and I thought that there would never be emus for it, so this is awesome to see you guys trying. :thumbs-up:

Phantasy Star Collection is, if I'm not mistaken, an emulator, although a highly optimized and specialized one. I don't think anyone's been successful in getting it to run other roms, though. I believe Sonic Jam is ported (especially since it has the spin dash in Sonic 1, time attack mode, etc).

No. VBT tried it in his SMS emu. I wrote some stuff about using the slave CPU which will be included in the source code release.

Although emus aren't much parallelizeable, there certainly is a lot of potential using the 2nd CPU.

I added:

Miss Driller

Krystal Drop

Aleph One (Marathon Trilogie) 3D FPS, 3 parts, said to be very good

Well, I expect porting to Saturn would be easy for some of the games listed in the 1st post. I could do it, but I'm unsure if it wouldn't be better to push limits with some new creations from scratch.

What are your plans and suggestions for Saturn homebrew 2006, vbt?

I'll add them :)

Yep and some are missing on saturn :) maybe a FAQ about porting games could help people, the problem is that nobody looked interrested except you :( My port of digger for instance was a bad choice for a sample, my SDL games are more generic and uses the same functions, for controls, display sounds.

I could do it, but I'm unsure if it wouldn't be better to push limits with some new creations from scratch.

A good arcade racing games with 3 tracks ;) and a big speed effect. We can grab track textures with Saturnin now :banana

I'd say publish a sms plus after some debug and an upgrade of Digger :)

That sounds good :) .

Hmmm, a FAQ about porting games....I thought writing some about porting emus or adapting flash games. But I've no plans to do so atm. It is a good idea that I'll keep in mind, no doubt.

So much stuff to do this year in order to get things going like last year. Some things remain to be updated, like the SaturnOrbit + SaturnGameTutorial combo..

From to the mass I can choose from, porting is the last option for me atm. Call me crazy, but sometimes I think about offering to port user requested stuff in exchange for a good donation.

It is just too much I'd like to do this year..

Added in the games/engines to port, I'm sure it's not so easy to port a such engine on saturn mainly when there is assembly in the sources.

I've added also SuperTux (Icedigger idea), it's a really good Super Mario clone, would be perfect on Saturn.
