Me so happy me have music!

Nintendo has released a statement that they are building a multimedia adapter for the Gameboy Advance unit. This unit allows use of an SD card to play mp3 music and mp4 videos via that sd card. Also included is an earphone jack.

This device is called the Play-Yan and will be released in February of 2005. Pricing will be stated close to then.

Very very interesting that Nintendo has done something like this.

Thanks to Spong for the info.

I expected them to do something like this - since the PSP is supposed to be a pocket pc with d-pad, N probably thought it would be loosing too much of the market share if they didn't jump aboard the boat of bloat.

They made a movie player for the GBA, or was that third party?

meh..

yeah it's supposed to work with the DS and SP, but not the original GBA. Not sure why. I would really like one, but I only have an original one right now 🙁

Where it uses an SD card for storage it would depend upon how big your card is. Usually SD cards go for about $60-$70 for a half gig (512MB), which is enough for about 4 hours of music at 128Kbps.
