The Sega DTS sound document (SOUND.pdf) says that "It is necessary to have a DevSaturn equipped with a special MIDI interface module for CartDev and DevSaturn MIDI-based sound development", and I guess that's it. I haven't found a picture of the rear of the setup, so I don't know if the board plugs into the Saturn's comm port, or the CartDev unit.

Is soldered directly to midi interface in mainboard, the second picture in Mr^Burns post
