Nope, you need Win98/98SE/ME full, no upgrade disc either.

More specificially, you need all the .cab files from the \win98 directory (in the case of 98/98SE). These go into the same folder as 98lite, then you start 98lite's setup from DOS and away you go.

well remember (if you read the comments) my laptop can't read CDRs well if at all.

I have a vanilla 98SE disc, but it's burned. Unless I could transport the cab via floppy or parallel cable I'm out of luck without buying some extra hardware

edit: the restore CD has cabs -- wait a sec and I'll get the list to make sure they are the right ones
