Yeah, you should totally play it.
Ok, but i did have some knowledge about the U.C. Gundam timeline since i have watched the original show, zeta, ZZ, Char's counterattack And Unicorn, But TBH is this playable even without knowledge from U.C. Gundam Timeline?

If you're familiar with the plot of the movies, you'll probably enjoy the english patch a bit more than someone who isn't. Since this game is based on the movie plot and not the TV series, it will have the same omissions that the movie script does compared to the show.
It goes without saying that they were trying to squeeze in a lot of story for an action game here. It covers Amuro's story across three rather long movies. Knowing how things connect will help to fill in some of the gaps in the way the game presents it, but the major plot points are there. I think I've made the story as clear as I can in English with what's there to work with, and any changes I've made to the original translation were in the service of making unspoken elements from the movies clearer to the player. You're right to suggest that they probably couldn't tell the whole story in a video game, but I think they did a pretty good job.
