Saturn using transparent mesh look ugly but why model2 arcade look nice?

Looking youtube videos from direct video capture from model2 arcade i see model2 have same transparency limit like saturn cant do native transparency and use mesh, how is possible in model2 arcade monitor the mesh look fine and in saturn look so ugly?

Dunno..I think it's a matter of framerate: the same game seen at 60 fps (almost all Model2 games got it) makes all the difference, opposite to SS 20-30 fps games and conversions...even the dithering is much more enjoyable / forgiving at 60pfs

It's the resolution. The mesh on Dead or Alive danger zones look ok. If you run the games at higher resolution on yabause, the meshes look fine too.

What kind of screen are you using with the saturn? You said you were using an arcade monitor with the model2. Old games look way better on those types of screens compared to modern displays.

Interestingly, Model 2's mesh processing is able invert the mesh parity if the areas that have already been drawn with mesh. That allows to materialize the overlap between the smoke trails by making it opaque. The downside is that it also materializes the polygon overlaps within a trail.

DoA is HiRez @60pfs both on SS and arcade, surely mesh look good. Take a look at Sky Target: 60 fps on M2 and 30 fps (even lower) on SS conversion, both got mesh trail.

Sky target runs at 30 fps on Model 2, check the video in OP frame by frame.

Sky Target is also lower resolution on Saturn than on the Model 2 board. So the mesh is more obvious.

Also the video compression of Youtube blurs a good part of the meshes when there's a lot of movement, even at 1080p.
It's clearly the case in the Gunblade video with the hectic action that this game throws on screen at 60 fps.
