Transfer Saves to PC / Prob with mem card

first, I've got that Original Sega Memory Cart for my Sega Saturn, I've put it in today and what did I see, nothing!!!, all saves gone, and I can't copy any files from the intern Memory to the ram cart and the games don't recognize it as connected... HOW THE F*** DID THIS HAPPEN????

(I assume that I have to "format" the cart so it is readable again, I just didn't do it cause I still hope that someone knows how to rescue the data, even though I'm pretty sure that's not possibe 🙁

so, what does one need to copy the saves from the Sega Saturn and/or the back up cart to a PC hard drive??? is it possible, cause I'm gonna throw the whole thing out of the window if that kind of crap gonna happen again,....

Some one plz help!

My first guess would be that the cartridge doesn't get a proper connection, especially if you have a habit of removing the cartridge (always a poor idea, considering the notorious unreliability of the Saturn cartridge ports).

Currently your realistic options for transferring saves are an Action Replay and a Commlink or a Netlink. For obvious reasons, neither are able to do anything about your save cartridge. A third option is getting a hold of a Saturn disk drive, but they aren't exactly common.

actually I'm thinking of buying the Action Replay 4M Plus....

what do I need to transfer the saves from there to my PC hard drive ( besides a PC and a hard drive ^^ do I need any extra hardware, canles and/or software ) ?

the reason why I took the back up cart out at all is that there are certain demo discs that can delete/alter the files in the back up cart, so I didn't want to risk it...

I was aware of the fact that taking (any) carts in and out of the sega saturn isn't quite wise, but I actually thought it would concirn only the gamebuster AR and other 3rd party products, but not the original Sega Back Up Ram

also, I suppose the cart is gonna work again, as soon as I "format" it...

I just didn't wanna do it cause I thought it'd be somehow possible to restore the data on it...

actually this whole "thing" makes me pretty f***ing mad, there were some really Important saves on the cart GRRRRRRRRRRRR

but I think I'll get around to get those back... at least I'm gonna have a load o f fun playing all those games I have ... still this suX 🙁

actually I've got one more question...

is it correct that the original sega back up cartridge actually uses a battery to store that data, but the Action Replay 4M Plus uses a flash rom, so that the AR could store data practicly forever?

Official Sega Memory Save cartrdiges use flash ram to save stuff. The sega official memory carts are usually the most reliable. This happened to me with my official sega cartridge the saturn wont recognize it until you push it down hard or push it back a bit. Also you can try the cart on another saturn as my model 2 saturn is better at reading cartridges than my model 1 for some reason.
