weird borddesign

Hi, I'm new here and the first thing i have to say is ... i love this site/forum, cause it helped me quite a lot in the past.

Now to my problem:

For years i posessed a pal model 1 saturn. I modded it to get 60hz and was very pleased, since the mod was a piece of cake (shortcut at jp1/2).

Cause my CD-drive broke i had to buy a new one. This time i got two broken model 2 and made one workin out of it. The first had a 64pin CD-drive which didn't spin and the second a 32pin CD-drive and a videodisplay-error.

Now ... this worked quite easy. The last thing i wanted to do was the 60hz mod to get rid of the terrible blackbars and the slowdown. After i disassambled the whole unit (the mobo is next to me) i started my computer to look, what i have to do. Now ... my board seems to be quite different from the usual faq- and modtutorial-boards. Because i don't want to burn up my whole unit, i have to ask you, what to do, because i got the impression, that you are a bunch of quite knowledledgeable people.

The board is labled:

Code:
171-7131A

PC BD SATURN MAIN VA PAL SD

837-12135

IC BD SATURN MAIN VA PAL SD

(C)SEGA 1995

MADE IN JAPAN

There are some other printups on the board .... like:

GCMK-M2K

168090000 (on a white box ...)

It seems the IC14 doesn't have a copper-wire attached to the 79st pin.

I hope you can help me and would be very pleased 🙂

PS: I searched the web with google and used the boards search-funktion to find an answer, but i only got some french sites (don't speak french) and to posts on your site which didn't help at all 🙁.

I hope all of you can understand my english, 'cause i'm german and i'm not very good at speaking english ... but i can read/understand quite well 😀.

Hi!

This site deals with modding model 2 boards and contains a fantastic region/rate mod using a microcontroller. There are diagrams, pictures and descriptions.

I recommend the mod - I just implemented it in my old model 1 and it works brilliantly.

He is German too, but the site is in english.

I hope you find what you need!
