What do you want to be when you grow up?

What career do you want to have.

For those of us who have already started a career, what is it and where do you want to be in a 5-10 years?

Personally, I'm a programmer right now, but I want to finish my computer science degree, turn my graphic design minor into another degree and make a career change into graphic design.

I might have to take a computer-related (not programming) business job for a while, before I find my perfect job.

In a few years I also want to attempt to get some more education (like community college) in commerical writing and/or broadcasting.

I would like to eventually be a technology or gaming writer. Especially if the gaming industry grows to be bigger like the movie industry, like I predict.

I'm also not rulling out other possibilities like working with audio and video.

I currently do part-time volunteer work running sound and light boards. (so in reality, I do wear headphones quiet frequently). So there are some possibilities there.

So to sum it up, I really don't know what I want to do.

right now i'm enrolling in college and i host my own site and I dj at clubs and have produce dj albums and have a group named after me (Illuminati)...for now...it's my first time ever handling my own affairs and it's tough but i'm sure with good promotion and good talent i should hit the underground scene hard about 2yrs..if not, there's always webmastering.

i'll probably teach comp sci (my major is in comp sci), i'm not sure what level i want to teach though, i like high school but only if i teach at a private school, public high schools are too ghetto thug for me

I hear ya Racket. Right now I work at a large-format printer doing output and the occasional design work, but my longterm goal is to set up my own studio for print design and multimedia.

I dunno, I thought I wanted to go into computer science, but I don't think so anymore. I've been told that I'd make a good teacher, but right now I think I'm just going to concentrate on my general ed, and maybe something will appeal to me.

lemme just say, don't go for a job/career just for the money.

You'll end up misarable.

Once I make a career change I'll probably take a bit of a pay cut.

But if I actually enjoy my job, I'll be a much happier person.

Now if you have a job you enjoy AND it pays well, then you are lucky

I would just love to somehow be on the "inside" of the gaming or hardware industry. I'm still a wee youngin but I think i'd like to either be a game writer cause writing seems to be where my shit's at or learn to be a programmer... but that might be hard since I havent even touched programming as of yet.

Actually, i want to be a concept design artist for probobly Acclaim (spelling?). I don't really like the company, but its right outside of the college im going to. And many of the students who go to the college and want a job there, can get it.

Hm.. I dunno. I just wanna do SOMETHING that has to do with gaming. Whether it be for a game mag, website, or something. I'd probably like to write about games and such.
