Monster Slider English Translation Patch 1.0

PATCH DETAILS:

This is a full English translation of Datt Japan's 1997 action puzzler, Monster Slider. This patch translates:

• All dialogue
• All menus
• The difficulty select screens
• The Character select screen
• The "Save warning" screens
• The Ending staff roll
• and more!

It also fixes a bug present in original game code that caused the Stage 3 intro conversation to hang on Satiator and some emulators.

The patch has been extensively tested on real hardware as well as on various software emulators, including Ymir, Yaba Sanshiro, and Mednafen


AI DISLOSURE:

Monster Slider uses a LSZZ algorithm variant to store sprite data in its .RES files. AI tooling - specifically Claude - was utilized for the compression and decompression of the game’s sprites. Claude was also used to diagnose the source of the aforementioned Stage 3 crash found in the retail release.

This patch is the product of untold hours of human labor.

• AI was not used to translate any part of the script.
• AI did not edit any of the sprites.
• AI did not edit any dialogue boxes, menus, sub-menus, etc.
• AI was not used for any decision making.

PATCHING INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Grab an XDelta patching utility like Delta Patcher
2. Unzip patch bundle
3. Open 'DeltaPatcher.exe'
4. For the Original File, locate Track 01 of the original Monster Slider disc (for example: Monster Slider (Japan) (1M) (Track 01).bin)
5. For the XDelta patch section, locate the Monster_Slider_English_Translation_v1.0.xdelta patch.
6. Click 'Apply Patch'
7. If successful, Track 01 will be replaced with the patched track.
