Adding a 50/60hz switch to a 1989 pal sms1

Another 50/60hz topic... anyhows,

I'm adding a 50/60hz switch to a SMS1 which, like the topic states, is missing the usual helpful NTSC/PAL silk-screen. It is a 1989, PAL VA3 board (or so the printing tells me). I checked around, and not only is the SONY/CXK3864 not on the board (the only Sony chip is labelled SONY/CXA1145P), there are no appropriately numbered pads.

However, I *think* I may have stumbled across the right spot. JP2 (just above the chip labelled NEC/D4168C-15) has three pads, labelled 1, 2 and 3 above each. Flipping the board over reveals 2 and 3 are linked while 1 is isolated. It's my guess this is where the NTSC/PAL pads are, but I wanted to see what other more experienced people thought.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I thought that I'd revive this dead thread.

Mangaman was correct, I tried those points on my PAL SMS (VA3 Board) tonight and it worked.

Woohoo!

Next time I open it up I can take a photo, but the desc in the first post is spot on. You can't really miss the points
