I recently obtained the game itself (w/case and manual) by luck spotting an ultra-rare auction for it on eBay -- and this is a game I've been searching for a couple of years to get at a reasonable price. I know of it's origins and such (the Doraemon cartoon that I like quite a bit), I was wondering if anyone knows how this game was distributed when it came out.
I do know there was a Limited Edition boxed set that had pencils, erasers, and some other Doraemon stuff, but was the game ever sold outside of that set? Anyone know the distribution numbers? The set goes for $160 in Japan -- the game by itself (boxed) I've seen from $35-$60 -- and I've never, ever seen it stateside. In fact, that eBay auction I obtained mine from was the first time I'd ever seen it there since I started bidding there in 1997.
Anyone who can help would be greatly appreciated. Just trying to get some answers to nagging questions.
I should add, I also really, really highly recommend the game. It was one of those I found through emulation and I couldn't keep my hands off it. It's a truly addicting platformer with more than a few cool twists, and it's not easy by any stretch.
Thus, my journey to find it began.
