I have the silver copy of Metroid. That is the only one I have ever known. Recently I found a copy with the yellow cover. What is the difference? Is one the first edition and one the second? Any difference in rarity? Almost all games on ebay say they are rare. When I worked at Funcoland, we had about 50 each unopened DK Country 1, Legend of Zelda LttP, F-Zero, and others. Yet they all were listed as "Rare" and sold for $30-40 each. We sold it for $15. Kind of funny.

The yellow one was the re-release. I don't remember what year exactly. Does anyone know if there were any changes made?

No, there were no changes made. The only game to have changes made in the re-release was Punch Out!! (with the obvious removal of Mike Tyson).

The only changes were in the packaging.
