on\off swtich to save sat cd motor

I had a though the other day dunno if anyone has tried it yet. I was thinking to add a simple on off switch to my saturn to interrupt the power supply to the cd motor to atleast lessen wear and tear. Now I do have the question of "will the saturn detect the cd motor as zero rpm?" if so then I would have to totally bypass the power in the off position rather then just cut it.

senseless. the saturn automatically stops spinning when the motor is slowed down manually.

besides, you prolly won't be able to switch fast enough for the swap to work.
