PAL Sega Saturn Model 1 with VA0 MB

Dont know how useful this is, but when i tried finding this info for my board I had no luck and decided to just go for it.

The IC14 chip is labelled as such, just in a different location. You'll find it at the back near the cartridge port. Pin 79 faces the back of the unit.

The 5 volt and ground can be taken from where the PSU socket is soldered to the board. This is on the underside of the board and left of controller port 1.

The wire layout for the power supply is as follows:

white Red Orange Black Black

+9v +5v +3.3v Ground Ground

Now you have the locations of the solder points, use www.mmmonkey.co.uk as your guide to install your mod.

Hopefully this is use to someone. 😀

Now if I could only remember where all these bloody screws went :huh

There realy is no need to lift the chip's leg.

This is my VA0 PAL board:



Notice the location of the VDP-1

Follow pin 79 (which would lead you to 3 via's nearing the slot.

Follow the one in the middle.



At the bottom of the bozrd you'll see it leads up to JP1 and JP2

Just desolder the Pull-up/down Resistor and solder to one of the lower pads:



Now you just need the supply eighter 5v or gnd th switch output wich you can take eighter directly from the power supply or the top pads of JP1 and JP2.
