Reliable sites to test bandwidth.....

i had dsl before and had common downloads of 50-80k a second. well went back to dial up and now have verizon dsl. web pages seem to load fast after an initial 2-3 second pause sometimes after entering the url but my downloads really suck. like 5-15k/sec. ive tried some sites claiming to give a good speed test but they're all over the map. anybody know of a good way to tell how fast im going so i have numbers to tell their techs when i complain some more (took 2 weeks to turn the damn thing on and then they forgot to put jumpers at the CO so we were connected but not actually on for the last 3 days  )

nice choice with verizon....enjoy the unrestricted newsgroups with no download/upload caps!!

I've got Verizon and i get about 90kb/s download steady. If you are closer to the CO you should be on the 1.5/128 plan and be getting speeds much greater than mine.

DSL..now that's ur problem right there nephew, u got to get that cable modem wit that bird's name on the machine, that shit is fast, get up to 2mb upload/download regardless of time and day.

Optimum Online has treated me well. I get around 4Mb or so downstream (people with the newer modems get around 8Mb), upstream is capped at 1Mb. Of course, DSL is cheaper.

yeah i think im dropping this shit. we have the 1.5 download 128 upload and all im getting is 326 dl and 26 upload. they tell me its "on my end and that i have a virus". fuck them. i format once a month and i dont have shit bogging it down on my end. basically after being on the phone for 2 hours today they said they "cant help me". this being after they forgot to hook up the jumpers at the CO but kept telling me we were good to go. mother fuckers. so i call today and they said my line doesnt qualify for dsl......ummm false. they test the lines before shipping out the equiptment. but whatever, their customer service/tech support is worthless. i think we're getting roadrunner asap.
