Hello,
here is my project created in large part with LLMs to recreate the cancelled game Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs for the Sega Saturn (as well as Dreamcast and Windows/Linux).
It's a 6-level single player arcade game worth of content loosely based upon the original anime with platforming segments and a few others (racing, battlezone like clone, shmup etc....

This was originally a 2015 Kickstarter project aimed at creating a 16-bits inspired incarnation of the Anime.
You can check out the original project here :

I should make it clear to you guys for those unfamiliar with the campaign :
there was next to nothing to work from.
There was only a 1 level demo that 2Dream (Tulio & Chui fame) made with the full music in there and that's it.
I had to create new levels out of literal screenshots and the assets posted on social media (including spritesheets of april and Saber that were ultra compressed and had to be recovered using an inverse CNN model).

If this looks like fun to you, you can download it here :

Additional details :
It uses Trekkies's 24-bits cinepak work (albeit reduced at 12 fps as i was unable to hit 20 fps without swapping to a Windows only encoder) and libyaul.
Saturn version was especially the most problematic to make due to memory constraints (even with the help of AI).
I must say, chris was truly... out there if he thought he could have brought it to the PC Engine with an Arcade CDROM2 card, let alone the Super CDROM version they were planning on. (One character spritesheet compressed could easily take multiple hundreds of kilobytes alone even at 4bpp and have multiple variants left and right etc... among other things)

I wanted to make something for the Saturn but unfortunately it turned out to be a visual novel and i thought it would have disappointed me (that one was handcoded unlike Saber's) so this is what you get. It turns out, crime does pay.

I would be happy to answer your questions if you have any.
