Specified file block size?

Well I have burned a few games now, with little problems, until now. I have tried both 2048 and 2352 and it keeps saying previous file is not a multiple of the specified block size.

heres a copy of the cue (made with sega cuemaker)

FILE "sdp_01.iso" BINARY

TRACK 01 MODE1/2048

INDEX 01 00:00:00

POSTGAP 00:02:00

FILE "sdp_02.wav" WAVE

TRACK 02 AUDIO

PREGAP 00:02:00

INDEX 01 00:00:00

FILE "sdp_03.wav" WAVE

TRACK 03 AUDIO

INDEX 01 00:00:00

the files size is 418 MB (438,929,456 bytes)

428,643Kb

Is there another multiple I can put in?

"File Length doesnt meet sectory boundry."

I tried opening it up with all the iso format file types and it always said that.

Could the iso somehow be corrupt? it was listed as tested and working and I used the sega saturn code converter to make it a us/canada region.

Already tried that. It came pre patched anyway. And I tried using the orignial before I messed with it but its the same deal.

I just cant figure it out.

Oh well at least I have sexy parodius in the mean time.

I guess you should try to talk with the FTP owner or guy from who you have downloaded it... and ask him if he knows something about it...

You do realize that 438,929,456 doesn't divide evenly by 2,048 nor 2,352, right?

The ISO that I have is 438,927,360 bytes (i.e., 428,640 KB) which divides evenly by 2,048 (result = 214,320 sectors).

Therefore, given the file size of your ISO, it's likely that your ISO was incorrectly ripped. What you could do is you could try to shave 2,096 bytes (or just 48 bytes) off at the end of your .ISO file using a good hex editor. No guarantee that would work though, but it should stop CDRWin from giving you that "not a multiple of the specified block size" error message.

BTW, the Sega Cue Maker isn't fool proof. It probably calculates block size by first dividing the file size of the ISO file in bytes by 2,352 to see if it comes out to a whole number. If so, the block size is 2,352. If not, then it assumes your ISO is 2,048 block size even if the file size doesn't divide into 2,048 evenly (which explains your case).

Interesting...

I divided the size of your ISO (in bytes) by 2352, and it comes out as exactly 186619 and 2/3 sectors (or 186619.666666666...)

So, if the block size really is 2352 (a division by 2048 just gives a very random result after the decimal point), there's either 784 bytes too few, or 1568 bytes too many.

So, the solution as I envision it comes in two steps:

1. Chop off 1568 bytes from or append 784 bytes to the file. (You could use a file splitter/joiner, and maybe create a Notepad file and make it out to be 748 bytes - just type some stuff into it, save it out and use it and the ISO to create one merged file.)

2. Load it into ISOBuster/CDmage/what-have-you and test all the files in the ISO to make sure it's actually complete, and that those files with the highest block numbers are still complete and readable.

3. Burn that sucker to CD and thank Taelon in a prayer.

Wow, that's wild. MasterAkumaMatata's post wasn't even there until I had written mine.

Seems his opinion is that the ISO has a 2048-byte sector size, whereas my solution is based on the assumption that it's 2352 bytes. Admittedly he has more evidence to back up his version than I do, namely his own ISO

so yeah... I say, go with his post first.

I decided to just try my luck with another file. So far I just bruned the new iso with no problems but have yet to test it.

On the funny side. I downloaded gradius deluxe pack and Im having the same problem with sector size..heh.

oh well whatever
