i tend to try to eat a lot of carbs on days that i lift i eat them before i lift then afterwards i eat more of protein type foods. carbs are the base of a proper diet and should be the primary source of energy.

oh and they help restore glycogen levels in your muscle.

I'm thinking of joining a fitness center soon, LA Fitness, it just opened up a couple blocks away so I can walk there
