Grandia English Patch

Translating Grandia 1.1.1

Ok, random question. This is still viewed as a Japanese game to my Saturn and I have to use the Action Replay to play this. Other translated games (Policenauts, and Linkle Liver Story) do not need the Action Replay. Am I doing something wrong, or is it just how this game is translated?

Also, is there a way to tell which version I'm playing by looking at the disc it playing the game since I forgot to lable my discs?

Thanks

It's being read as a Japanese game because the patch does not modify the region of the game. There are utilities out there you can use to patch the region of the ISO if you don't want to use an Action Replay or a Region Switch.

Text Alignment issues are now fixed:

Could be my cdr but could be an issue with the latest patch. I went back to check some older saves and

When Leen is at the cannon to sacrifice herself, the fmv cuts when she open her wings.
That didn't happen with my previous disc. I ran out of discs and can't burn another for now, so would you check this scene?

I tested that scene multiple times and it plays fine. FMVs cutting in and out is a telltale sign of a bad burn or poor CD-R Media.

So, in the Icarian City,
after the battle against Mullen, the text box quickly skips after the voiced dialog with him. Is this a normal behaviour? Because shortly after the dialogs return to the usuals speed.

Which line in particular? Is it playing out differently than this?:

Haha forget about it. Looks like another issue with that crappy CDR, there isn't even a non voiced line.
Anyway, I've finished the game and did not notice anything wrong. You did a very good job. The text boxes on the epilogue are really good.

I think it would be better to use an official artwork for the covers. Fits better.
Surprisingly there is very little decent official HD artwork for the game... well, it is from 1997, so I guess it's not too surprising. I did want that overlooking image on top of the edge of the world specifically, and that guy Daniel Bogni does amazing work. Anyways, I get using official artwork, so I came up with these alternatives. Again, image quality takes a hit on official artwork.

This is unfortunate. I thought GunHO would release hi-res artworks with the HD Collection, guess I was wrong. I managed to find only this slightly better image https://www.myplaystationwallpapers.net/1920x1200/grandia.jpg
Every other one is really bad.

It's been ages since I've looked but in the deluxe edition I thought there were images on the third disk (maybe not "high res" by today's standards though).

edit: Nope, just audio.. Bummer. I literally have probably not touched this disk since 1997, lol. It's all in Japanese.
