Whats the deal?

I have my resume posted at a few of these online jop searching places and occassionally i receive these emails from a company that says they pay people to do online research or fill out surveys, seems like an easy way to make some extra cash but it seems to good to be true or is some sort of hoax.. Anyone ever try something like this or hear something about it?

My grandfather was part of something like that for YEARS before the internet, it wasn't much money, but I guess for every survey he did, they sent him a $2 bill. He's got this huge stack of $2 bills in his office lol.
