And now for something completely different...

Why, it's painfully obvious that Sony and Microsoft are just two sides of the same degenerate coin! These campaign "messages" reflect the lamentable degree to which standards in the video game market have fallen. Well, I for one am not going to support the MicroSony status quo. Don't listen to the naysayers who try to convince you that you're just "throwing your money away" with Nintendo, or worse, that "a dollar for Nintendo is a dollar for Microsoft". Both Sony and Microsoft opposed the expansion of the Zelda, Mario, and Metroid franchises, while supporting such public policy disasters as The Bouncer, Driv3r, and Bruce Lee: Quest of the Dragon. Do we really need another 5 years of shovelware and rehashes?

Nintendo in 2005 - Because it's time for a real change.

Preach it brother!

I don't think MS cared to much about what games were being developed for their system.. - they support the developers who make those crap games, rather than the games themselves. Oh, and if Nintendo were stupid enough to sell their franchises off, I'm sure MS would be the first to snatch them up.

Yeah.

Thankfully, we'll never have to worry about that.

WOW, where the hell did this whole bitch fest come from. I dont see it, what cause they failed to mention nintendo in a Vid Game parody of the presidential debate. Maybe the factor that they are picking on sony and micro is because everyone knows nintendo wont be thwarted, they have been here from the near beginning.

Sorry, but I can't agree with you there axelblazeadam. Microsoft would just go for the money that is to be reaped from Sega, and - even though the cash injection might be nice at short term - that would kill Sega's creativity. Just look to what it did to Rare.

Sony is a bit of a different case, their marketing is awesome, and they know how to make succesful developers stick to their platform - look at square for instance. Still, selling my soul to Sony just tastes wrong for some reason. And again, the money might be good, but when you're in it for the money on long term, quality will eventually drop.

Sammy might not be all that either, but at least they know a thing or 2 about arcade, and that's where Sega got big, and will remain big. Chances are that both MS and Sony wouldn't stick to arcade as much, just because it doesn't make the same money as the home console bullshit they sell now.

By the way, I don't even own any of the 3 new gen consoles (well I do own an Xbox, but that's for the emulation of retro consoles and to play divx etc, not for the xbox games).

Amusing article.

On a serious note, however, I really think gamers as a whole need to get over this "console war" bullshit. It's making all of us look ridiculous. Debates are inevitable, but that doesn't mean we're in some kind of war.

And yes, I know it'll never happen.

The thing with Sammy is I'm not sure if they want Sega for the games or for the floor space. At least you know that wouldnt be the case with other two.

Of course my ideal partnership would be with Nintendo.

:agree

I've gotten over the whole console war ridiculousness since I end up buying all the consoles anyway. :/
