I Must Be a Retard...

Howeee!!!...but seriously...
biggrin.gif

First and Foremost, i have a few problems, so i'd appreciate your help and patience along the way.

1) Suikoden. I downloaded the rar from LockeColes Server, unrare'd it, and found myself with a file called MD2048.uha. Doing some research, it turns out its a uharc file, of which the Uharc.exe was also included in the zip. Now this is where the retard part comes in. How do i uharc it? Or is it un-harc it? (you get the idea...) Whenever i open the uharc.exe it comes up as a 'finished' program (explanation: on top it says Finished - Uharc)

What do i do? (i'm detting the idea i use dos, but my skills are well...more than lacking. I'm playing around with it now, but i'm not sure how the commands work...hoo boy i need help.

2) Nights is still a crack wh*re. I get the bin and cue, though the cue comes up as missing the 2nd iso. i.e

Put it into CDRWIN and and aptly decides not to burn. Hmmm...yes...

3) The shortest and finallest question: Does Street Fighter Zero 3 need the memory cartride? It seems to be that way after i've burned it (though i can't read jap).

Ithankyouyes.

Well I can answer your first question (not sure about the other ones right now). You are right you must use DOS. Click the Start bar and then Run, type "cmd" then hit enter. MS-DOS Prompt will pop up. You must navigate to the correct folder the Uharc.exe and the UHA file is using the "cd .." for going back a folder and "cd foldername" for going up a folder. Then type in "uharc.exe e MD2048.uha" and it will extract. I'm getting tired right now, and I really don't know what you can do with the Nights problem but maybe someone else will be more knowledgable.

2. Did you try burning NiGHTS with the first cue sheet? The 2nd data track is inside the BIN file. If you used the 2nd cue sheet, did you BINCHUNK or convert the BIN file to ISO+WAV first?

3. YES, Street Fighter Zero 3 requires a 4 MB RAM cart to play.

2) Try this

FILE "NIGHTS.BIN" BINARY

TRACK 01 MODE1/2352

Thank you guys! Suikodens been fixed beautiful apart from one problem - the sound is skipping, and i know this has been posted elsewhere but just keeping things up to date. I'll figure it out.

SFZ3 - Meh. Good to know though.

NiGHTS I'm still not sure on - when i load the edited cuesheet(the one you suggested Gear) into CDRWIN, i get:

number of files: 1

number of tracks: 21

ARGHH!This is the continuation of the last post due to a little hindrance entitled 'brain damage.'

Back to Nights in CDRWIN.

Number of files: 1

Number of Tracks: 21

Number of Cuepoints: 41

I'm sceptical about burning it as the whole thing looks slightly messed up. Does this look right due to the whole mode 1 & 2 thing? Let me know and thanks in advance.

Hoboiamthankyousam.

While I've not needed to alter the cuesheet as Gear suggested, it's worth a go. How much is a CDR worth?

Hmmm...Rhetorical question eh?...
biggrin.gif

Well Gear/mal/Akuma/Anyone interested, I've burned Nights with CDRWIN with the cuesheet you suggested. Still nothing. I boot the CD and i get the 'game disc is unsuitable for this system.' I'm guessing this is a country code thing?

I've converted the bin with satconv to be pal compatible, but i think this is where the problem is: bins don't go too well with satconv. I don't know, but i read somewhere that a tiny little byte off the overall bin size can throw the whole thing off whack. I hope i'm wrong.

Any suggestions on what to do next?

The 2nd cuesheet that i posted (see 1st post) was said to have worked in another topic, albeit not 100%, but i'm not fussy. Any way, when i loaded that in i got an error with CDRWIN. This is the error:

Error. 'START DAO RECORDING' command failed on device 0:0:0

Cuesheet was rejected by the CDROM recorder.

hmm...???

And AkumaMatata, I have converted Nights with win ISO, but the dual iso thing put me off burning them. So in other words, i'm just going to use a bin and cuesheet for simpleness sake (simpleness sake? that's not right...). Simplicity's sake! There that works. :
wink.gif
:

Well, thats it from me. And thats it from him. Wait a minute...this only works with two people...

I've never had a problem with Satconv and bin files so I don't know what's wrong there.

You could get an AR cart. It solves alot of problems.

Point taken...

But check back to Gears cuesheet: theoretically should this work?

And what does the screen 'Disc not suitable for system' implicate about the game disc? (apart from the obvious) Does this mean it could be a bad burn, wrong country code, all of the above... etc...help me out here..

I'm think i'm the one doing the errors here. I have never burned a game with CDRWIN, and opt for the iso/wav combo instead with Easy CD Pro. It's lame, i know, but it gets the jobe done (except for now...now sucks...<deadpan>).

I've checked out the guides to burning Saturn games, but theres gotta be something i'm doing wrong. I know this is a big ask, but a step by step guide as to how you guys did it would be (in the words of the Great Man Billy Connoly) F*****g Brilliant <end scottish accent>

<insert Drumroll> A FEW QUICK QUESTIONS!

4) Gun Griffon 2 refuses to convert into an iso (i'm using winiso). What to do, oh what to do...

7) Virtua Cop 2: I'm trying to convert the little mp3's (in the 40-60k size range) with mp32wav, but no luck. Helpgoodyes.

Thats it from me. Again. Hoo boy...

Not to be condescending, but are you sure you are converting the country code to the correct one? It's just a shot in the dark, but if you select "Asia PAL" as your code, that is not correct for most PAL games. You really want "Europe"

Sorry if that seems stupid or is insulting - it's not intentional if it is.

i'd imagine that you snagged the handle of "rorshack" (sp?) from the alan moore classic "the watchmen".

that removes you from the catagory of retard anyway

Curtis: Don't worry dude! There wasn't an ouce of condesention (my english is getting shite since i finished high school), in your post. I've been going with 'Europe' all the way, so no problems there!
biggrin.gif

Sizone: Not to go off the topic (theres a topic?) but yeah, Watchmen was and is my favourite comic of all time (excluding manga and Anime). And Rorscach himself just happens to be a bit of champ, so yeah. Your politeness has not gone without gratitude

But check back to Gears cuesheet: theoretically should this work?

I don't know for sure but I believe something like that has worked in the past.

And what does the screen 'Disc not suitable for system' implicate about the game disc? (apart from the obvious) Does this mean it could be a bad burn, wrong country code, all of the above... etc...help me out here..

'Game disc not suitable...' means wrong country code.

'disc not suitable...' means bad rip/burn/not a Saturn disc.

I'm think i'm the one doing the errors here. I have never burned a game with CDRWIN, and opt for the iso/wav combo instead with Easy CD Pro. It's lame, i know, but it gets the job done (except for now...now sucks...<deadpan>).

I use CDRWin all the time so I'm not going to be much help with Easy CD Pro...

4) Gun Griffon 2 refuses to convert into an iso (i'm using winiso). What to do, oh what to do...

Does Satconv (DOS or Win32) recognize the bin(?) as a valid Saturn disc image? What error does Winiso give?

7) Virtua Cop 2: I'm trying to convert the little mp3's (in the 40-60k size range) with mp32wav, but no luck.

Again, what error do you get with mp32wav?

4) Gun Griffon2: "Can not read source file." It converts until 14% where i get that error message. Hmm...odd. The file itself is called 'trackdata.bin' but i doubt that has relevance.

7) Virtua Cop 2: Whenever i try to convert the pissy little audio files, i get this message:

"Mp3 to wav decoder has caused an error in

ACTIVEMP3.OCX

Mp3 to wav decoder will now close."

If something can be done to fix it, great. If not, could i simply burn the game with all the working audio files, and ignore all the others? If i do this, i would get a tracklist containg:

Audio file 1

Audio file 2

Audio file 3

Audio file 5

etc.

Would the lack of an audio track 4 (and any others) have much of a bearing on the overall performance of the game?

When i'd compile the list in Easy CD Pro, i'd ignore putting in audio file 4 and put '5' in its place. Would the game subsequently play 'audio file 5' in place of '4'?

The above paragraph is a little too poorly strung together, ie. the wording of this post sucks.
smile.gif

If that was not clear enough, than could someone tell me the 'laws of audio files' in Easy CD Pro?

Hoo boy...too many words, not enough message...
biggrin.gif

BACK TO NIGHTS FOR A SEC,

I get 'game disc is unsuitable,' so it could be a bad burn, or the number of cuepoints (41) is affecting it somehow. I was under the impression the CDRWIN pr-burn page should be:

Number of Files: 21

Number of Tracks: 21

Number of Cuepoints: 22

Instead i get:

Number of Files: 1

Number of Tracks: 21

Number of Cuepoints: 41

Does this have a bearing on anything at all?
