That's a grade point adverage. At my school, it works like this: Getting an A in a class is worth 4 points, a B is 3, C is 2, D is 1, and F is zero. You add up all your points. So if you got 2 A's, 2 B's, a C, and a D, you'd do 4+4+3+3+2+1. That equals 17. You then divide 17 by the number of classes you have (in this example 6). So 17/6 is 2.83. The grade point adverage of this example is 2.83.
But if you have Advanced Placment classes, those are worth a point higher. A is 5, B is 4, C is 3, D is 2, F is 1.
