Problem editing bin file ( using racket's method )

Problem editing bin file ( using racket's method )

I started by using cdrwin and ripped the original disc of Shining Force 3.

I ended up with 2 files from this process -1 bin and 1 cue

I than opened the bin file using notepad and after a few mins of loading it to the pad it just shows me a mess of jumble. Wingding like symbols. No text to edit just garble.

Tried to reopen a few times and no luck.

Any idea's?

What exactly are you trying to do? The BIN file is a raw dump of the contents of the CD and is mostly binary data so it's expected that it would be a jumble. Are you sure it's not the CUE file that you want to edit?

The CUE is probably what you would want to edit.

The only thing you would potentially want to do to the BIN is change the region

Gogo idiot noobs !!! ( that would be me )

Yeah I was trying to edit the wrong thing:)

Ok now that I am armed with more knowledge what do I change this to?

FILE "SHINING FORCE 3.BIN" BINARY

TRACK 01 MODE1/2352

INDEX 01 00:00:00

TRACK 02 AUDIO

PREGAP 00:02:00

INDEX 01 23:14:14

You don't change it... there is no need to.

for "you" (and I say you because there may be someone more technical that would do alterations to the .bin file, but you're not gonna) the only time your gonna change the cue file is if you ripped the DATA section and AUDIO parts seperatly...

So just burn by selecting the .cue file with nero/fireburner/EZCD... or what ever you burn with; making sure that the .bin file and the .cue file are in the same directory.

---

If you change the file name of the .bin file though, you will have to edit the .cue file to have the same file name.

Sometimes you need to edit a CUE to take a file path off of there.

But that one you pasted looks perfectly fine.

You should be good to go :)

I appreciate the info and feedback from you both. Thank you.

Once I order my mod chip from racket in the next few days I will post again if I need more * installing help for dummies * :)
