Sega of Japan Releasing MegaCD emulator with games

That is pretty cool. Sega seems to have a big interest in emulators. It's like they recognise how valuble that market is.

Hmm, is it anyhow related/based to Gens Emulator?

Considering that the Mega Drive emulator was based on Gens, I'd say it's a fairly good bet.

But Gens is GPL now, right? So wouldn't SEGA have to release the source of their emulator if that were the case?

Maybe if this is successful enough, they'll do 32X emulation... then maybe that will open up its userbase big enough to make new 32X games profitable. Come on Kolbri 2!

Just because Stef released at as GPL doesn't prevent him from licensing it to Sega under a different license.

You guys do realize you only get the rom/image for X amount of days, yeah?

Nemesis from Sonic Cult managed to write a program to decrypt the disc images from the service.

Yeah, I guess that's true (about the GPL thing).

As for Kolibri - wasn't that already based on / had sprites that were taken from some other game already?
