So Ive shown pictures of this in my other Fire Pro translation project, but I think it's better if this game has its own thread. All the main menu text is done:
Circuit Mode, aka the Arcade/Story mode.The Japanese text is a bit wordy , so think of this as a localization more than a direct translation.
Elimination mode is a fairly customizable tournament mode.
Power Battle is the "one life bar mode"
So after you finish your run in Power Battle mode, you get a synopsis:
I couldnt find the tile for "title" , which is above the yellow text.
What I think is one of the coolest features is the instruction mode. Its not just some text on screen but video you can watch, rewind, fast forward, pause, etc
The cornerstone of all video games, the options screen 😛
As you can see below, the tool tips (seen by pressing L or R in the option menu) were all in Japanese.
They have also been translated into English.
This screen is the only one that required tile work to change the text instead of SHIFT-JIS values. Luckily I had tons of practice with 6MS so tile work was
super easy this time around.
I even kept the highlight gradient for the highlighted text:
This is the partially translated screen:
You watch videos that show you how to play (lifted directly from the arcade version). The non-highlighted text is all on VDP2 and isnt easy to alter.
As you can see, even the video playback controls were in Japanese:
However, ALLLLLLLLLL the overlay text on the videos *IS* translated to English, playback controls included.
In the circuit mode, all the post fight text is translated, including the gameplay tips:
