That's in the original PSX localization and probably in the HD remaster. I don't plan on doing a new patch for that.
Version 1.1.1: in the patched Track 2 audio tracks for both discs (offset 0x56220 on split-bin Track 2), I noticed some data that probably shouldn't be there (looks like remnants from a WAV file and not legit redbook audio bytes):

Thats probably an issue with the patcher then. That said I'd imagine that would get corrected if you were to have the patcher produce an ISO/WAV/CUE image and burn it to a disc. The track is just the "This is a Sega Saturn game" warning, so it shouldn't really have any impact either way.
Hi! I'm having some issues with my patched version on my PAL Saturn with a 50/60 switch (set to 60). I've used Alcohol120% to burn the patched disc at 10x (the lowest speed my writer would run), on the Saturn preset, and I get garbled text on the title screen, and it crashes if I select the top option (which I assume is supposed to be New Game). Does anyone have any insight into why that might be happening? I'm not using particularly high quality CD-Rs, but I thought I should explain the issue I'm seeing before putting money into importing fancy discs to Australia.

It's quite probably you used a wrong image file and the patching didn't go well.
Try checking checksum before and after patching, and testing it in a emulator before burning the disk.
Also, if everything cheks in a emulator, before blaming disks, if you use a pseudosaturn cart to boot backups, apply some form of shielding to the front side (look for more instructions in the pseudosaturn kay thread)

The patch doesn't require a specific rip or image file as the patching program rebuilds the disc image each time. If you put in a completely wrong disc it wont let you apply the patch.
What's most likely going on is a bad burn. Grandia in particular needs good quality CD-Rs. When I was testing the patch I found the game was very unstable if burned on cheap CD-Rs, even the Japanese version.
Created an account here to say THANK YOU for all the work put into this. I can only understand about half of what is shown/said in Japanese, so this version is the best of both worlds.
Tangentially related: I have the physical Saturn copy. The manuals are nice! However, they are difficult to for me to read due to no furigana. I tried real-time translation on my phone, but it doesn't seem very accurate. Anyone ever stumble across translated scan of the Japanese booklets? I suspect not, since the game is available in English, and everyone would just read that manual. I do give Sony some mild props for trying to cram the contents of both booklets (instructions and hint guide) into their single manual.

The CD-Rs that I currently have don't manage to get the unpatched version past the title screen either, if it even manages to get there.
So the recommendation is something Archival Grade? That's very expensive and looks like I have to buy in sets of 50 Verbatim "UltraLife Gold Archival Grade" here in Australia for about $150AU

I found some JVC professional grade discs locally. Will try those and report back! Thank you!
