    Help... somebody???

It's possible (though probably not very likely) that the CD is degrading... you could just copy it to a fresh CD blank with your PC, it should take care of correcting any errors along the way (or you could rip the CD to bin/cue, then check the image with CDmage for corrupted sectors and repair...

    disabling digital-audio playback of cd's

disabling digital-audio playback of cd's I dunno about PowerDVD, but WinAmp comes with an in_cdda plugin which you can configure to either read audio CDs digitally or play them the analog way.... I would think that PowerDVD is configurable in a similar way, if it too uses a plugin system.

Ok, now everybody can stop asking me

Yoda: "Too much generalness leads to chaos! Mmh!" Qui-Gon (startled): "Yoda, what happened to the way you speak?" Yoda: "I'm a little green man, not a doctor!"

Ok, now everybody can stop asking me

Well, that's funny, because I installed a decoder build from Nic's page which is probably over a year old - and I can still play every new XviD I come across, without fail. In regard to seeking efficiency, that's not directly related to which codec you use, but how often keyframes occur in the...

    scariest game EVER

A nice sound system and very high volume are actually better. [/b] That's easy to say for people without a hearing-problem. <_< Headphones for me, thankyouverymuch :P As for TR:AOD, it's great. I wouldn't say the series was going downhill... TR4 (Last Revelation) was very good but also by...

    some aspi troubles

Even in Win9x, having the latest/proper ASPI from Adaptec installed is probably a good idea. As for WinXP, if I remember correctly, the WOWPOST.EXE and WINASPI.DLL aren't even needed because they're 16-bit modules whereas XP is completely 32-bit and only needs the other two files. As always: "I...

    scariest game EVER

Totally! Especially on a 21" monitor and when playing a modern game with DirectX9.0 graphics so good you completely forget they're just a load of polygons. :) I know I'm gonna get laughed out of the forums for this one, but Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness has some pretty darn scary moments, too...

Ok, now everybody can stop asking me

DivX and XviD are NOT hacked codecs... :P DivX has long gone commercial, and XviD is a legal open-source project. WMP is a Microsoft product, obviously MS has no interest in providing in-player downloads for non-Windows Media codecs. The kicker? I only use ONE player for everything...

Anybody looking forward to this weeks Stargate?

Right here... and I've already seen the final episode A WEEK AGO. I really have to wonder why you guys haven't seen it yet. :) It's a pretty good conclusion, too :) Now I can't wait for Season 8 and Atlantis :)

    some aspi troubles

I would recommend ForceASPI 1.8 as the version linked to above is 1.7, and 1.8 has been the latest available version just about forever. Nothing wrong with a few more bugfixes ;) ForceASPI rocks, especially for Windows XP.
